5 Dog and Owner Photo Ideas for People Who Don’t Like to Pose
Tamara Telkes

While we all want to capture some special moments with our furry best friend, posing with them can be quite an intimidating task, especially for those who do not like to be in front of a camera or think that they are not photogenic. Luckily you do not have to be a professional model to create awesome images with your pup. The following ideas can be utilized by both those who are comfortable in the spotlight and those who prefer to put the spotlight mostly on their dogs.
Looking Out in the Distance
Starting off with a very ease and safe choice, one that you cannot go wrong with: simply sitting or standing next to your dog and looking out at the landscape in front of you. Because you are photographed from the back you do not even need to worry about facial expressions.
Focus on the Dog
This is the ultimate picture for those who want to have some pictures with their dog but are not very comfortable with posing. With this in between kind of solution you are still in the image, but the focus is literally on your pup, with you standing or sitting behind them, leaving you lightly blurry.

Sitting on the Bench Together
A great way to utilize our surroundings and feel less awkward about just standing somewhere with your dog is by finding a nearby bench. Your dog can either sit next to you, looking back at the camera, you can both look out into the distance, combining this with the first idea, or you can look at each other, which is usually the picture that is filled with the most emotion.

Looking Back Above Your Shoulder
One of my favorites is a true classic! All you have to do is put your dog’s front paws on your shoulder and have them look into the camera while I photograph you from behind. We can capture some of the sweetest faces your dog can make with this tactic.

Holding Their Face in my Hands
This is a photo for those who really do not feel like posing. Only your hands will be visible in this photo, as you take your pup’s face into your hands from both sides and have them look up at you. This is also a brilliant way to get an active, constantly moving dog to stop for a second and look into the camera. However, the main reason I love this pose so much is because by shooting from above your shoulder I can capture the same exact loving way your dog looks up at you every day.

And there you have it! If any of these ideas caught your attention, and you’d like to recreate them, shoot me a message with your vision for your photo session! You can get in touch and book your shoot here.
