5 Photo Ideas for Dogs Who Do Not Like to Pose
Tamara Telkes

If your dog is the type who is constantly moving around or deliberately turning away whenever you want to snap a quick picture, taking a nice photo of them can be difficult. However, it is by no means necessary for your pup to sit still in order to take some awesome pictures – here’s some inspiration for photos that not only look amazing but are enjoyable for your dog as well.
Running
All you need is a simple recall for this. It doesn’t even matter if your dog doesn’t know the stay command, you can either ask someone to hold them in place while you back away, or you can put them on a leash and loosely wrap it around a tree so that it takes a bit of time for your dog to follow you. Make sure to put your dog in a harness though if you use the latter method to avoid any injuries. You also want to have some high value treats or toys with you to ensure your pup comes to you.
Treat catching
All dogs love treats, so it is guaranteed that they’ll love it if you try to take these pictures. You can either stand and photograph your dog from above or sit down in front of them and take the photos from their eye level. It usually takes a couple of tries to get your aim right, but I don’t think any dog will mind.

Playing
Pups that are super energetic are usually very playful as well, so it’s a good idea to incorporate their favorite toy or game into your images. You can ask someone to play fetch with them and try to capture the exact moment your dog catches the ball or just play tug all by yourselves. I think pictures like these are especially great because they show your dog exactly as they are, the way you see them every day, at their happiest.

Frisbee
A bit more advanced than the previous idea, but if you’re dog loves playing frisbee, these photos are a must. For the best results you’ll want to stand parallel to where your dog will jump up for the disc, so ask whoever’s helping you to try to aim for the disc to land in front of you. The throw itself doesn’t have to be big; a few meters is perfectly enough.

Walking together
If you don’t mind being in the pictures, this is a super easy and fun way to take some dog and owner photos. Your pup can be either on or off leash, and it doesn’t even matter if they pull or run ahead of you, you just have to go with it and have fun. That will certainly reflect on your images.

As a final tip, I would also advise you to take these photos in good lighting, because all of them capture movement, and in order for your phone or camera to be quick enough to snap the perfect moment you need lots of light.
