Best Dog Friendly Photoshoot Locations in Barcelona
Tamara Telkes
Barcelona offers some truly breathtaking views that are generally pretty dog friendly as well and allow for gorgeous pictures to be taken of your pup. Some of these places might be quite familiar and yet you may not even think of them as a potential location for your photo session. However, from the perspective of a professional pet photographer, these spots can be brilliant for canine portraits, so I’m going to try my best to explain what makes each location suitable, and what kind of dog I would recommend it for.
A Hidden Gem for Dog Walks – Teatre Grec (Greek Theatre)
Beloved by locals and relatively unknown to tourists, Teatre Grec is a super inspiring place with its colorful garden, weaving staircases and Greek-style amphitheater. It offers a great variety of backdrops for your images, allowing us to create just about any photo you may dream of. It also has a lot of greenery all year round, and the sunshine that hits the garden is perfect both in the morning and in the evening. If you have a reactive or anxious pup, who is maybe afraid of dogs or people, Teatre Grec can be a good choice for you if you decide to have a sunrise session, because the place is generally empty that early in the morning.

Stunning Dog Portraits at Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya
Architecture meets nature meets views of the city. There is quite a large area around the museum, with sunlight coming through the trees, illuminating each shot beautifully, with gorgeous staircases and great lookout spots where you can have a view of Barcelona as the background of your portraits. It’s quite well known as one of the best places to watch the sunset, but if you want to avoid the crowds, the mornings there are equally beautiful. When I lived in the area, this is where I would take my morning walks with the dogs pretty much every day. I would recommend this area to those who want best of both worlds and combine city and nature photos in one shoot.

Go for a Swim and a Stroll with Your Dog at Barceloneta Beach
Though it’s only dog friendly from September to April, it still has to make the list, since it’s one of the most iconic spots and the ultimate place to watch the sunrise or the sunset. The colors here are just out of this world! If you’re looking for a simple, yet breathtaking background for some intimate or playful pictures, this is the right choice for you. Because this place is so popular, it’s challenging to find a time when there are no people around, there are always some people there even to watch the sunrise or for their morning run, but generally the early hours of day are a lot calmer than the evening.

Views From Montjuic and a Fun Hike with Your Dog
Everyone knows that if you want to be in nature within the city, Montjuic is the place to go. Throughout my hikes on the mountain, I’ve found a bunch of awesome lookout spots that are illuminated perfectly at sunset. With the perfect view of the city behind you, every photo is instantly transformed into something remarkable.

Colorful Photoshoots with Your Dog at Parc de la Ciutadella
Looking for some lovely bright greenery to take your pictures in? Look no further! A wide array of plants ensure a pop of color in each image you take here. Though beware of the birds that reside here, they can become quite the distraction if your dog is interested in them. Otherwise, the park is ideal for an early morning session when the crowds haven’t arrived yet.

Climb Escales de Forestier together with Your Dog for the Perfect Scenic Photos
A set of stairs leading up to more city views from Montjuic, from where you can see the city, the sea and the port. Once you reach the top the surrounding nature is also perfect for photos. This place is best illuminated in the morning, so I would recommend coming here early. Through the great thing about Escales de Forestier is that even in the afternoon hours there weren’t too many people here, making it a good choice for dogs that are not fond of too many people or other dogs.
